Tess Fit Clinic

Welcome to Tess. Sit down! Can I take your coat? Would you like a cup of tea? Or a glass of Champagne, perhaps? Now that you’re here, we’d love you to peruse our collection and all the gorgeous garments we offer … and we would also love to fit you with the perfect Tess dress!

Here on our Tess site we want to recreate the experience of a personal fitting in a couturier’s shop of a certain era – Hattie Carnegie’s atelier, for example! We would love to work with you in this Tess ‘fit clinic’, to ensure you have the best resources at your disposal as you pick out your garments. Our blueprint to a perfect fit is exclusive to Tess, and, as you will see, it is something very special. Read about the perfect fit

Our suggested steps to achieving a great fit:

Measure certain points along your body (see details below) to find out which Tess size is best for you.

As you measure, wear undergarments only and do not measure over your clothing. A practical tip: to achieve the most accurate results, wear the undergarments that you would actually wear with the garment you are considering.

Remember that in order to get an accurate body measurement you should always keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor.

1
BustWrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, then drop your arms to your sides to measure.
2
WaistBend to one side to find the natural crease of your waist. While standing straight, measure across at this point.
3
HipStanding with feet together, measure around the fullest part of your hips and rear.
4
Back Waist LengthThis measurement will ensure that your garment fits your body height naturally. Measure from the bone at the base of your neck to your natural waist at your back.
5
BicepWrap the tape loosely around the fullest part of your upper arm, then drop your arm to your side to measure.
6
Waist to Knee CreaseThis measurement will help you to determine the right skirt length for you. Measure from the point of your natural waist at your center back to the crease at the back of your knee.

Once you have determined your body measurements, consult our size chart and locate your best Tess fit.

Most importantly – slip on your perfectly-fitted Tess dress, and wear with pride!
